The Gestapo used part of the camp as a remand prison for people under investigation, with most of those found guilty of crimes of being or crimes of state sent to nearby KL Natzweiler. The rest of the camp was for the Arianisation of Elsass, so I guess this meant getting anyone deemed too ethnic or too 'French' out of the way. Since the sender's family appears was in Bischheim-Strassburg, I guess he needed "Arianisation." Very worn, on camp stationery, with Schirmeck special cancel.
