According to the catalog from the long-time leading German postcard auction company Raith (now sadly defunct), they auctioned the first know example of this card a few years ago. Here is number two. Amazing eyewitness account of the "Battle" of Tientsin at the start of the Boxer Rebellion in China on July 14, 1900. The view of Astor House Hotel and tower. The contents: "Yesterday from this tower from 5:30AM until late mid-afternoon I observed continuous fighting. Yesterday the city could not be taken, but it happened early today and the Fort will soon follow. The danger for Tientsin is on all sides. Best Greetings, Kroebel". Franked with "China" overprinted 10pf Krone-Adler issue stamp, with Tientsin July 14, 1900 CDS and Suhl, Germany receiver. Incredible piece of history.

Documents for Jewish prisoner Hans "Israel" Bernstein, repeatedly arrested in Berlin and sent to Moabit prison. There are documents from sentencing in January 1940, a visit to him in prison in April 1939, and a document from a September 1939 stay. One documents states that he can avoid a 4 day sentence by paying 4000RM(!). A clear historical example of the persecution of Jewish citizens before the ultimate Holocaust.

Scarce, original, period postcard from Cassel at the start of the Revolutionary period after the Kaiser abdicated at the end of WWI, when the Communists (Usually called Spartakisten or Spartacists, but really meaning any left-leaning group) seized power in a number of cities (so-called Spartakus Putsch), only to be deposed by right-wing counter-revolutions and/or the newly forming national government, with the help of volunteer 'Freikorps', or Free Corps fighters. With Arbeiter u[nd] Soldatenrat cachet from one of the idealistic and short lived Communistic "Worker's and Soldier's Councils" formed primarily from the disillusioned sailors from the Kaiser's Navy, along with fellow travelers from the ranks of soldiers and workers. Very scarce - most of these poor buggers ended up shot, jailed, or later oppressed by the right-wing which took over Germany in the 1930's.

Original 'Sprechzettel' / 'Speaking notes' permission slip for Jewish woman, Frau Emilie 'Sara' Beyer to speak to Heinrich "Israel" Wachsmann. Rules of the visit are printed on the back; these include a 15 minute duration, and animals as well as children from the ages of 3 to 14 are forbidden. No food, and a change of clothes or washing materials only with prior permission. Due to the Nuremberg Laws, all Jewish men had to use "Israel" as their middle name and woman as "Sara" to mark them as Jewish in correspondence.
